Hello and welcome. I am Beverley B. Conrad, Ph.D. a clinical psychologist (PSY 16896) in Burlingame, CA. I focus on the treatment of adults (18 years of age and older) and have a special interest in couple/marriage counseling.
By reading my website, you will glean a sense of who I am and what I do. There is a plethora of practicing mental health clinicians in San Mateo County and finding the right psychologist or psychotherapist or counselor may be daunting and confusing.
After reading about my services, you are invited to contact me by telephone so that we may determine if I can be helpful to you. If not, I will be happy to assist you by suggesting other excellent clinicians.
In general, I take a pragmatic and focused approach to personal problems and explore them in an atmosphere of warmth, safety and humor. I strongly believe that we have an equal relationship and that the work of psychotherapy/counseling is collaborative.
I tailor my style to the person/people and psychological issues at hand. Some clients/patients solely need to be heard and the simple qualities of empathy and understanding are tantamount before achieving insight. In other instances a more active style on my part, peppered with knowledge, skills and/or advice, is welcomed.
Much of the work of psychotherapy or counseling is shortened by openness and vulnerability. To this end, I provide an atmosphere of hospitality and shelter for you to explore your feelings, perceptions and experiences.
The majority of my patients live on the peninsula in San Mateo County including Millbrae, Burlingame, Hillsborough, San Mateo and Belmont. Residents of San Francisco and Santa Clara Counties also find me centrally located and near the Burlingame Train Station.
